Henley – Happy Tail

Hey, it’s me HENLEY. It was one year ago on March 8th that I found my furever home & became a New Brunswicker…all thanks to ACDR! So I thought I’d give you an update on how I’ve been doing.
At 7 years old, I am in the prime of my life and incredibly healthy because Mom & Dad take me for lots of long walks and I love my fresh veggies & dog-friendly fruit. Mom & Dad take me with them for fun drives in the country, I get to go on side x side excursions, AND tractor rides. I’m still not thrilled about large dogs (they’re a little scary), but we’ve tried a few play dates & I’m getting better (yay me!). I’m such a good boy getting my nails trimmed…I go to the groomer for that, but only because Dad hates the sound of nails being clipped (haha, he’s weird!). I’m so proud of myself ’cause I always do my business outside even on the coldest, windiest days ❄️.
Now don’t get too excited, Mom says I’m not quite 100% perfect. Currently their house is down 3 couch cushions because I was a tad upset at being left alone for a short time. But my folks have adapted and now have a checklist whenever they go out for a bit…cushions up out of harm’s way, bathroom door closed because I love digging in the garbage for kleenex (not sure what the big deal is about that), and my bed has to be put away as well ‘cause I am really amazing at destuffing it. But hey, if that’s the worst of my quirks, I’d say Mom & Dad got off pretty lucky!
People say most of us rescue dogs come with baggage, and it’s true most of us do (through no fault of our own). But that’s what is so great about rescues like ACDR. They placed me with the perfect foster family to help work with me on some issues, and then any potential families who wanted to adopt me had to go through a very detailed application process to make sure it would be the best fit. I’m so grateful that ACDR found my Mom & Dad for me ‘cause they are perfect and I love them so much 💕.
Ok, enough with all the schmaltzy stuff…I’m off to destuff some toys! Spring is right around the corner and I’m looking forward to all the new adventures just waiting for me to discover!
