ACDR spends a minimum of $500 for each dog that comes into our care. These adoption fees do not begin to cover the expenses incurred which may include, as a start: vetting, spay/neuter, vaccines, medications, and dental procedures.
However, many dogs that are surrendered to us also have other, sometimes serious medical and/or emotional issues, which require ongoing expensive vet care, and/or working with a positive reinforcement trainer or animal behaviourist. No dog in ACDR’s care is listed for adoption until they are in the best shape possible. And all of that costs money.
